A 24-year-old Tenby man and his partner, who attacked a woman in a night club in a drunken row over a spilt drink, have avoided a jail sentence.
Scott Connelly and Caroline Drinkwater, aged 21, of Doddenham, Worcestershire, were sentenced at St Albans crown court after they pleaded guilty to causing actual bodily harm and affray.
The court heard that they had followed the woman into the ladies' toilets at the Oceana Club in Watford before punching and kicking her as she lay on the floor, causing whiplash injuries, swelling, burns and bruises.
The victim had merely reacted to the drunken pair spilling a drink over them by flicking some back, the court was told.
Connelly was given a two-year suspended prison sentence and ordered to do 100 hours unpaid work and pay £1,480 compensation and costs.
His partner was ordered to do 240 hours unpaid work and pay compensation and costs totalling £1,885 after also admitting assaulting a police officer at the scene.
