A dash of flipping madness in Tenby today (Tuesday) will decide the town's new pancake champions.
The Shrove Tuesday event has been launched to raise money for Tenby RNLI, and lifeboat crew members are keeping their fingers crossed that there will be no call-outs to stop them from putting up a challenge in the race.
The fun starts at Tenby harbour at noon today, when town mayor, Councillor Sue Lane, will send contestants on their way. Each will be required to run for 60 metres while flipping their pancakes.
Entrants are asked to gain sponsorship in aid of the RNLI, and must bring along their own frying pan and pancake.
There will be races for professionals and amateurs, with local entertainer Laurie Dale on hand to ensure that all contestants stick to the rules of the event, and flip their pancake every 10 metres.
Prizes include a 'behind the scenes' tour of Tenby lifeboat station, and two tickets to the evening's pancake dinner being held in aid of the RNLI.
For those not lucky enough to win, tickets for the event at the Fourcroft Hotel are on sale at £10 a head, and the two-course pancake meal starts at 7pm Tickets for the dinner and sponsor forms for the race are available from the hotel or Waterloo House.
