Police are appealing for information following a “distressing” incident last night (Thursday) in Haverfordwest.

A blue boiler suit had been stuffed with straw and dangled off the bridge using blue nylon rope over Freemens Way, which led people to believe someone had hanged themselves.

The incident occurred at around 7.30pm to 8pm.

PC Paul Rees of the Roads Policing Unit said: “ We went expecting the worst, to find it was a blue suit. Four police cars were sent, we didn’t know if we would have to close off the road. It was a total waste of time and resources.

“It looked to all intents and purposes like a body, it would have been quite distressing for members of the public and families passing underneath it.”

The bright blue boiler suit had a badge on the chest, with a logo for the Trumac Group.

Police received a number of calls about the incident and one person has been arrested.

Any witnesses, or those with information, are asked to contact Haverfordwest police on 101.
