The future of a Fishguard building will be discussed at a public meeting tonight (Thursday).
St Mary’s community hall is in need of modernisation, and locals are invited to have their say on ways the building could be adapted to meet the community’s needs.
The hall has served the community for more than 75 years and continues to provide well-used spaces for a range of activities.
The community hall was a church initiative to provide what were then called “institutes”, providing the first library and a high quality, three-table snooker room above a large hall with a stage hosting dances and entertainment.
Current questions centre around how needs can best be met in the spaces this hall provides, such as making better use of the stage, improving access and providing more social activities.
As part of the process for grant applications, a public consultation on its future is to be held in the hall tonight (Thursday) at 7.30pm.
Rev Don MacGregor, of St Mary’s Church, said: “This is an opportunity to have a modern community hall in the heart of Fishguard, if we can gain the support for it from the people of the town.”
