Deputy First Minister Ieuan Wyn Jones will visit Chevron's refinery in Pembrokeshire this afternoon (Thursday) to hold talks with company managers and speak to the workforce.
The visit follows reports about Chevron’s plans to restructure its global business.
“The reporting in the media of Chevron's plans for a global review created understandable uncertainty for the workers at the Chevron refinery and their families," said Mr Jones.
"At this stage I must emphasise that no decision has been made about any of Chevron's plants. I am visiting the plant today to talk to mangers and offer any help we can.
"This refinery has recently been upgraded to improve efficiency and makes a major contribution to the UK's refining capacity.
"As well as going to the plant today, I have also written to the chairman and chief executive in California offering the support of the Welsh Assembly Government with the aim of securing the future of the plant.”
