Haverfordwest Townswomens’s Guild The Haverfordwest Townswomen’s Guild recently celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the Branch with a celebratory lunch at the Hotel Mariners. The Chairman Mrs Daphne Fuller welcomed all present and in particular the guests of honour who were Mrs Ann Sillick, chairman of the South West Wales Federation and Mrs Doreen Noot who has been a member of the guild for forty-one and during that time holding several offices including that of Federation Chairman and is the present guild vice chairman.
As well as current guild members several past members attended and a very enjoyable time was had reminiscing about the many past activities of the guild including the choir, drama and social studies which had taken them to St Martins in the Field and Westminister Hall, London, and the Brangwyn Hall, Swanseas to name just a few. The memorabilia on display was of great interests.
The February meeting of the Haverfordwest Townswomen’s Guild was held on the first at the Albany Schoolroom when the chairman Mrs Daphne Fuller presided.
Arrangements were discussed regarding future Federation events including ‘Getting to know you; at Gorseinon in March, AGM in Carmarthen in April and the garden party and music festival in Margam Orangery in June.
The Guild Whist Drive will be on Monday February 14th at 2pm in the Albany Schoolroom and it is hoped that members will meet for lunch at Vincent Davies on Tuesday February 15th.
Following the business meeting enjoyed a talk and video presentation by retired policeman Mr Mark Jones on the help and advice given by the ‘Bobby Van Scheme’. The vote of thanks was given by Mrs Fuller and the raffle winner was Mrs Fay Evans.
The next meeting is on March 1st at Albany Schoolroom at 2.30pm and will be the Guild’s AGM. New members/visitors will be very welcome.
