Wales Office Minister Wayne David today (Thursday) met the management at Murco’s Milford Haven Refinery to discuss the future of the oil industry in west Wales.
Speaking after visiting the refinery, which can process over five million tonnes of crude oil every year, Mr David said: “I welcomed the opportunity to visit Murco’s refinery in Milford Haven and hear the concerns and issues facing the company. "The refinery plays a major contribution to the west Wales economy and securing a sustainable supply of transport fuel and other products across the UK.
“The UK Government recognises the industry is facing challenging economic conditions and I was on a fact-finding visit today to see what support can be given following the global economic downturn. "I’m sure Murco and the oil industry in general will continue to work closely with the Department for Energy and Climate Change to create the best possible conditions for future investment and growth.”
