MRS J. IRELAND
STEYNTON
The death of June Ireland, of Steynton, occurred at Morriston Hospital on December 28th. She was 77.
June lived her whole life in Steynton Road, and was brought up with her sister Pamela by their parents, Mr and Mrs Picton Davies.
Following her marriage, June and her husband lived in Steynton village. Throughout her life she was a keen walker and swimmer, yet June will be greatly remembered in Milford Haven for her teaching.
Following her teacher training in Barry College, she returned home to spend three years in the Kensington Hospital School, St Brides, where all her pupils were youngsters with TB.
The remainder of her teaching career was spent in North Road, Milford Haven. June also became headteacher of Milford Haven Junior School.
Following her retirement, June and her husband travelled all over most of the UK, and also enjoyed walking holidays in Europe.
The funeral service at Parc Gwyn Crematorium was conducted by Rev Ronald Price, former minister at North Road Baptist Chapel, Milford Haven.
The chief mourners are: Walter (husband); Pamela, June and Des (sisters and brother-in-law); Amanda and Paul, Joe and Sam and Bethany (nieces and nephews).
Unable to attend were Paul Snook (nephew); Gerry Snook (brother-in-law) and Sian Minns (niece).
There were family flowers only. Donations in lieu of flowers for the cardiac ITU at Morriston Hospital may be sent to Walter Ireland, Mendips, 138 Steynton Road, Milford Haven, SA73 1AN.
The funeral arrangements were carried out by Tom Newing and Sons, Milford Haven.
Mrs R. M. Williams
Stepaside
Ruth Moyra Williams, of Pleasant Valley, Stepaside, died at Park House Court on January 4th, after a short illness. She was 73.
The daughter of Winford and Olive Phillips, of Longstone, she had lived for most of her life in Pleasant Valley, and worked for the Tenby Observer for many years until her retirement. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard, in 1994.
The funeral took place at Longstone Congregational Chapel on Monday January 11th. Rev Norman Gilbert officiated, and the organist was Margaret Thomas.
Principal mourners are: Martin and Lissa Williams (son and daughter-in-law); Alison and Steven Gow (daughter and son-in-law); Cerys, Angwen and Rhys (grandchildren), and Brian and Valerie Williams (brother-in-law and sister-in-law).
The bearers were Clyde Thomas, Brian Williams, Ken Godfrey and Bernard Lawrence. A number of her friends and relations were unable to attend due to the poor weather.
The service was followed by interment in the chapel cemetery. There were family flowers only, by request.
Donations, if desired, for either Longstone Chapel or the Paul Sartori Foundation may be sent to W. and M. J. Rossiter and Sons, The Old Rectory, The Norton, Tenby, who also carried out the funeral arrangements.
Mr M. Warlow
Pembroke Dock
The death of Michael Warlow, of Pembroke Dock, occurred on December 16th, after a short stay at Withybush Hospital. He was 71.
As a native of Pembroke Dock, he was a retired civil servant, a national insurance inspector.
He was predeceased by his wife Barbara Warlow.
Family left to mourn and principal mourners are: Louise, Mike, Daniel and Matthew Ferris (daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren); Andrew Warlow (brother); Joan Warlow (sister-in-law); Mary Meldrum (cousin); Alun Cray (cousin); Peter Warlow (nephew); Helen Crowther (niece).
The service was held at Bethany Church, followed by interment at Llanion Cemetery and was officiated by Rev Roger Hart.
The bearers were Gavin, Terry, Paul and Stewart.
There were family flowers only with donations in lieu for The British Legion to Graham Thomas, 34 Charles Thomas Avenue, Pembroke Dock SA72 6UR.
The funeral arrangements were carried out by E. C. Thomas and Son, Pembroke Dock
MRS B. REES
ANGLE
The funeral of Barbara Grace Mary Rees, of 2 Shirburn Close, Angle, took place on January 2nd. She died at Withybush Hospital on December 28th, aged 89.
Barbara was the youngest daughter of Harry and Florence Thomas and lived most of her life in Angle, except for the war years, when she served in the WAAFS.
She supported the lifeboat, the church and the school and tried not to miss Angle Bingo on a Friday night.
Her husband, Charles (Benny) Rees, died three years ago.
The principal mourners are: Rosemary and Roger O’Callaghan (daughter and son-in-law), Martin and Lin (son and partner), Jeremy and Ann (son and daughter-in-law), Emma and Kevin Garlick, Lisa and Derek Richards (granddaughters and husbands), Susan and Lee (granddaughter and partner), Jeremy, George, Ben and Sally (grandchildren), Elinor, Lucy and Christian (great-grandchildren), David and Mathew, Peter and Dylis, John and Sheila, Andrew and Sarah, (nephews and nieces).
The bearers were Richard Roch, David Lawrence, David Fisher and Tony Ward. Canon Richard Rees officiated at the service at Angle Church.
The funeral arrangements were carried out by John Roberts and Son, Pembroke Dock.
Mrs L. Roach
Haverfordwest
The death of Lorna Roach of Pembroke Road, Haverfordwest, occurred on January 3rd at her home, after a long illness.
During her working life she ran her own business, The Fruit Bowl, in Bridge Street, Haverfordwest, and went on to open RJ’s night club with her son Michael and nephew Graham.
Lorna retired from business in June 2003.
She was wife to Billy, mother to Michael and friend and sister to Sylvia.
One of her greatest joys was her grandson Owen.
The funeral was held at Parc Gwyn, Narberth, on Saturday, January 9th, led by Rev N. Cale. There were family flowers only but donations, if desired, may be sent to The Paul Sartori Foundation, Haven Road, Haverfordwest.
The principal mourners and family left to mourn are: Billy (husband); Michael (son); Sylvia (sister); Owen (grandson); along with many family and friends.
The funeral director was Glyn Thomas, of Freystrop.
Mr T. J. Byrne
Scotland (formerly of Haverfordwest)
The death of Trevor John Byrne occurred on January 4th, after a short illness. He was 56.
He leaves to mourn: Maggie (wife) and Louise (daughter), plus many family and friends.
Brought up and educated in Haverfordwest, Trevor moved to Scotland 27 years ago to work in the oil industry, offshore and abroad.
The funeral took place at St Philomena’s R. C. Church in Winchburgh.
Mr W. B. Marren
Steynton
The death of William Bernard Marren, of 18 Castle Pill Road, Steynton, Milford Haven, occurred at Withybush Hospital on November 1st, after a short illness. He was 60.
Bernie, as he was known to all, was born and brought up in Milford Haven. He was the oldest of six children of Nell and Joseph Marren. He attended the Milford Haven Grammar School and his passions at school were football and athletics.
Upon finishing school he started his working career at National Westminster Bank, Milford Haven. He then started working for Foster Wheeler Reading.
Because of his job he had the opportunity to travel worldwide.
He worked and lived in numerous countries, including Canada, Iran, Norway, Scotland, Abu Dhabi, Pakistan, Singapore, Malaysia, Dublin and Reading. His last job was as an administration manager in Dubai.
His hobbies included watching football, playing golf, pool, darts and fishing. He also enjoyed travelling to different places and learning about the different cultures.
Family left to mourn and principal mourners are: Farah (wife); Liam (son); John and Sue (son and daughter-in-law); Ruth and Neil (daughter and son-in-law); Joe and Nell (parents); Joe (brother); Ann, Eileen and Tricia (sisters) and their families, Emmanuel and Doris (father and mother-in-law); Shahid (brother-in-law); Sabika, Francisca and Jessy (sisters-in-law) and their families; Joshua and Michael (grandchildren) and many cousins, nephews and nieces.
The funeral took place on November 6th at St Francis Roman Catholic Church, Milford Haven. The service was led by Fr Jaime Bautista, followed by interment at Milford Haven Cemetery. It was attended by family, friends and work colleagues.
The bearers were Joe Marren (brother), Jose Cano (brother-in-law), Keith Lawrence (friend), John Marren (son), Shahid Gul (brother-in-law) and Neil Creech (son-in-law).
There were family flowers only, with donations in lieu to St Francis Roman Catholic Church, 128 Priory Road, Milford Haven.
The funeral arrangements were carried out by Tom Newing and Sons, Milford Haven.
Mr T. R. McLean
Neyland
The death of Terence Richard McLean, of Vale Road, Neyland, occurred on December 24th. He was 66.
Originally from Milford Haven, he was a boiler-maker for many years. His interests included gardening and sports.
Left to mourn are: John and Peggy Owen (mum and dad); Angela McLean and Jim (daughter and partner); Christopher and Stephanie McLean (brother and sister-in-law); Mrs R. McLean (Angela’s mother); Mrs E. James, Mrs D. Broome (aunt); Mrs Francis and Richard Owen (aunt and uncle); Jennifer and Karen (niece); Kim and Lisa (nieces); Pat Baker (foster daughter); June and Stuart Slade (friends); Miss N. Nickerson (friend) and Bob and Laura.
The service was held at Hamilton Court Funeral Home on January 4th, followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn on January 5th. Ven Graham Davies officiated.
The funeral arrangements were carried out by Tom Newing and Son, Milford Haven.

Pembroke Dock
Joseph Williams of Laws Street, Pembroke Dock, died at South Pembs Hospital on December 14th. He was 88. The funeral service took place at Parc Gwyn, Narberth, on Monday, December 21st, with Father Jay Jay officiating. There were family flowers only. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Tom Newing and Sons, Milford Haven.
Mr L. T. Harries
Crundale
Family, friends and work colleagues gathered at Parc Gwyn, Narberth on January 4th to remember the life of Lynne Thomas Harries, of Erw Las, Crundale, who died on December 28th. Lynne was the son of May and the late John Harries was born in Puncheston in July 1940. The family later moved to Rhyd Ddu, New Moat. When he was small he went to live with his grandparents and Uncle Jack at Picton Park, New Moat. After leaving Penffordd School aged 15, Lynne worked on local farms before becoming a lorry driver.
Lynne worked as a long-distance lorry driver for 40 years until his retirement four years ago. After retirement, he worked part time for Maurice Smith, until ill health forced him to leave.
He married Haulwen in 1984.
Lynne leaves to mourn: Haulwen Harries (wife), May Harries (mum), Gillian, Cliff and family (sister and brother-in-law), Eileen, Lynne and family (sister and brother-in-law), Eric, Anne and family, Leslie, Meryl and family, Hazel and family, Suzanne and family, Sonia, Alan and family, Steven and Simon Davies (step-children) together with nephews, nieces and other relatives, friends and neighbours too numerous to mention.
The funeral was officiated by Rev Geoffrey Eynon, assisted by Rev Gwyn Rogers. The bearers were Andrew George, Gareth George, Meurig Williams, Steven Rees (grandsons), Wayne James and Jeffrey Farnham (nephews). Unable to attend was May Harries (mum) and many other family members.
There were family flowers only. Donations in lieu for Tenovus may be sent to Meryl George, 153 St Davids Road, Letterston, Haverfordwest, SA62 5SS.
The funeral arrangements were carried out by Rhydian Eynon of Paul Jenkins and Sons, Fishguard.
