An innovative company, planning to produce and market tea grown in Pembrokeshire, will be featured on America's CNN news channel this evening (Wednesday).

The Pembrokeshire Tea Company was established last year. At the moment it imports its tea from a ethically run plantation in Darjeeling and blends it with locally grown ingredients.

However, the company plans to grow and produce all its tea in a five acre plantation Pembrokeshire by 2015 and by 2019 they aim to have planted 81 acres of tea garden, the biggest tea plantation in Europe.

"Pembrokeshire has a great climate for growing tea," said co-founder Tony Malone. "Located under the Atlantic jet stream we have mild humid summers and mild winters, and a lot of rain, perfect for tea growing."

The company is exhibiting at today's Supplier to Buyer event in Haverfordwest. Providing samples of tea and showing off their tea plants, which they are bringing up to a productive level this year.

During the event they will be tweeting and blogging live to over 15,000 people in the UK who actively follow and support Pembrokeshire Tea online. They will also make a brief podcast for thier blog, which will be shown live on America's CNN news channel later today.

"We've had a very productive start to the year here with a lot of support from the local community and our fellow Pembrokeshire businesses," said Tony.

"This has seen us off to a great start with our products being ordered from as far afield as China and the USA.

"Following over 4000 requests for information on visiting Pembrokeshire from our online advertising we have now linked our site to the Visit Pembrokeshire information page by Pembrokeshire Council, hopefully we can develop this interest into more visitors to Pembrokeshire over the next few years."
