Pembrokeshire Haito hero, firefighter Phil Irving, appeared alongside actress Dame Helen Mirren on BBC's The One Show last week.
Phil, who is crew manager at Haverfordwest fire station, was one of seven fire fighters from mid and west Wales who was part of the international search and rescue mission in Haiti.
He appeared on The One Show with several colleagues from the rescue team and explained to Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley, as well as Dame Helen, how the team's training stood them in good stead to deal with the conditions in Haiti.
"It was a bit of an emotional roller coaster," he said. "Our training gives us good heads up and we condition ourselves to be able to deal with the situation as best as we can."
Phil also talked the presenters and the award-winning actress through footage of the two rescues the crews were involved in, that of two-year-old Mia who was pulled from the rubble of her kindergarten and 39-year-old Hatian woman Sonia who was rescued from under a pile up of concrete slabs.
