Bride-to-be Emma Thomas is sharing her pre-wedding diet with radio listeners throughout Wales as she bids to be one of its ‘biggest losers’.

Emma, aged 36, from Penally, has already shed an astonishing six stone and has now been signed up to one of Real Radio’s two slimming teams as she works towards her goal of walking down the aisle in a size 12 dress.

Eight slimmers have been chosen by the radio station to join presenters Angela Jay and Dave Brookes on Team Breakfast and Team Drive Home, and members of the group with the biggest weight-loss over the next four weeks will each bag a £200 prize.

“But what’s most important is the motivation we are getting to follow our diets, and all the team members have already built up a real camaraderie after our first weigh-in at the studios last week,” said Emma, who runs Crackwell Holiday Park with her dad, Malcolm Thomas, and weds fiance John-Paul in September.

She applied on-line for a chance to join in the Wales’ ‘biggest loser’ challenge, and was chosen for the effort she has already made to drop from 17-and-a-half stone, and her reason for her continued weight loss.

“I’ve got a stone and a bit to go, and feel I need a bit of a kick, so this is going to give me just the right encouragement,” she explained.

“I’m on Angela’s Team Breakfast, and she is offering us a lot of support. The Martin James Health Club in Kilgetty has given me the use of the gym and a personal trainer for the next five weeks, so I don’t have any excuses!”

Emma follows the Herbalife weight-loss programme, and is so pleased with the results that she has now become a weight management coach with the company.

She will be sharing slimming tips with staff and parents at Tenby Infants School – where her seven-year-old son Callan is a pupil – as they take part in a sponsored slim to raise money for the Haiti earthquake appeal.

“Callan has been great, keeping me in line on my diet,” she said. “I feel so much better and far more active – I’m a completely different mum.”
