Police in Narberth are warning farmers to keep tools and equipment securely locked away, after thousands of pounds of goods have been stolen in a spate of thefts.

The farm thefts have taken place in three properties in the Tavernspite and Princes Gate areas over the last couple of weeks.

A Cebora M.I.G welder, worth between £1,500 and £2,000 was stolen from the first farm. The red welder, which was an Apollo 215 model, was mounted on a set of wheels.

Attached to it was a BOC Argo Shield gas cylinder. The blue two tone cylinder is similar in appearance to a diving oxygen bottle.

Two other farms targeted were next door to each other in the Princes Gate area.

A small child's 90cc Suzuki motor bike, worth around £200, was stolen from the first property along with an old orange Stihl chainsaw, with a missing chain guard, worth £50, and a £150 Ryobi RBC 30 set strimmer. The strimmer is unusual in that can either be used with petrol or with a battery pack.

Two Stihl chainsaws, one heavy duty MS390 with a 16 inch cutting blade, worth £500, and one MS210 model with a 12 inch bar, worth £250, were stolen from the neighbouring farm.

Anybody with information about the thefts, or anyone who has been offered the equipment for sale, should contact either PC 1161 Dee Nix or PC 182 Nigel Lewis at Narberth police station on 101.

PC Nix is warning farmers in the area to remain vigilant and reports suspicious people or vehicles, along with registration numbers, to police.

"Farmers should try to secure tools or keep them inside in a secure building," she said. "It is also worth investing in security lighting or cameras."
