Girls from 6th Haverfordwest Guides bid a very fond farewell to their Guider Margaret Body (aka Maggie, aka Bee) at her guide meeting on Tuesday December 15th due to her retirement.
Having become a brownie in time to wear the coronation badge. Maggie then went on to become a Guide, gaining her Queen's Guide Award and later joined the Land Rangers. Following this she helped with a Brownie Pack and a cub pack, eventually marrying one of the cub pack leaders. His career in the RAF took them to Germany where Maggie started as a guider in 1977 at RAF Gutersloh.
After returning to RAF Brawdy in 1979 Maggie first worked with 2nd Haverfordwest and then 6th Haverfordwest Guides. She has also served on the Girlguiding Pembrokeshire Executive as County Advisor in several areas, as Assistant County Commissioner, as District Commissioner and has also worked with the headquarters team in London to produce the Commissioners Training Scheme.
There are many girls who have many happy memories of their time in guiding thanks to her wealth of knowledge, devotion and enthusiasm. Maggie has already devoted 32 years of hard work, commitment and dedication to girlguiding and will be continuing to support 6th Haverfordwest Guides and Girlguiding, as she will now become a member of the Trefoil Guild.
