An 18-year-old upset about being refused tobacco, lit cigarette papers and pushed them through a friend’s letterbox, a court has heard.
The Milford Haven teenager pleaded guilty to arson at Haverfordwest magistrates court last Tuesday.
Kelly Marie Picton, of 24 Larch Road, Mount Estate, had visited her friend’s flat in Chestnut Way, Milford Haven on April 28th.
She had asked for tobacco and was refused, the court was told.
Magistrates heard how the 18-year-old was upset by the incident and was also angry with her friend who she thought did not approve of her boyfriend.
Picton returned to the flat on the Mount Estate in the early hours of April 29th, lit a handful of cigarette papers and pushed them through the letterbox.
The lit papers had extinguished on hitting the floor and caused minor damage to letterbox brushes.
Prosecutor Nick Newton said CCTV cameras had identified Picton and following her arrest, she made full admissions in an interview, adding that she was “disgusted” by her actions.
Defending solicitor Jonathan Webb said it was “a very stupid act” which had caused “very minor damage”.
The case was adjourned for pre-sentence reports. Picton will appear for sentencing in court on January 28th.
