Pembrokeshire's youth offending team (YOT) police officer has been praised, after his quick thinking and policing skills apprehended a local vandal.
While out on patrol on Wednesday, PC Steve Richards visited a person who had been the victim of antisocial behaviour. Someone had been climbing on the roof of the man's car and caused scratches to it.
PC Richards, along with the Pembroke Dock neighbourhood policing team carried out a search of the area and stopped a 20-year-old man.
He was identified from his footwear as being responsible for the damage to the car roof. He was given an adult caution for the offence.
He was found in company with several other people, all much younger than himself and their details were all taken.
PC Richards is seconded to the YOT where his role involves administering the final warning scheme and reviewing all young people who come into contact with the police.
He is now also escorting the neighbourhood policing teams out on patrol.
"The YOT is all about preventing young people from offending," he said.
"I will now be regularly out on patrol talking to young people in a bid to deter them from crime."
