A Goodwick man was stumbling around with a flagon of cider when he was arrested for being drunk and disorderly, a court heard this week.
John Fitzgerald, of 2 The Laurels, New Hill, pleaded guilty to the charge at Haverfordwest magistrates court on Tuesday.
Prosecutor Ellie Morgan said police found Fitzgerald outside the HSBC Bank in Haverfordwest on the evening of Wednesday, December 16th.
"Officers received a call to say there was someone 'paralytic' carrying a flagon of cider," she said.
"They caught up with him outside HSBC and immediately recognised him from the description."
She added the 35-year-old was "slurring and mumbling," and had to be escorted to the van when his legs gave away.
Fitzgerald defended himself and insisted he was trying to get help for his substance abuse: "Its taking over my life," he said.
"I've had a meeting with the substance abuse council and am on a waiting list to go into rehab."
He added he had no recollection of the night in question, but said the fact he lived in Fishguard and had no money to travel back and forward to Haverfordwest often meant he ended up sleeping rough.
The presiding magistrate told Fitzgerald he could not allow the situation to continue.
He was fined £75 for being in breach of a conditional discharge, received for a charge of theft in November, £35 for being drunk and disorderly, and a further £100 in court costs.
