Fishguard coastguard rescue team have made it through snowdrifts with urgent food and medical supplies for a husband and wife stranded in the snow.
The elderly couple have been stranded in their home since the onset of the bad weather and had run out of food and urgent prescription medcine.
The couple, both in their 70s, live in the Castle Blythe area near Puncheston and have been cut off by drifts which have made the road impassable.
Coastguards were contacted by the county council's emergency planning department at 2.20pm today. Fishguard team quickly mobilised and collected supplies of bread, milk and meat as well as medication for the couple.
The team have managed to get within a mile and a half of the house in their 4x4 vehicle, they then proceeded on foot through waist high drifts.
Coastguards arrived at the house at 4:15pm. The couple are reported to be in good spirits and very grateful for coastguard assistance. They have rewarded their snow heroes with a well-earned cup of tea. Both the coastguard team and sector manager, Barry Scott will soon be heading back through the snow to their vehicle and then back to Fishguard.
