Fishguard coastguard rescue team are currently on their way to the aid of an elderly couple who have been stranded in their home for several days and have run out of food and urgently needed medical prescriptions.
The couple, both in their 70s, live in Castle Blythe in the Puncheston area and have been trapped in their home by snow drifting in Tuesday's gales, making the road impassable.
Coastguards were contacted by the county council's emergency planning department at 2.20pm today. Fishguard team quickly mobilised and have collected supplies of bread, milk and meat as well as medication for the couple.
A coastguard spokesman said that the team have managed to get within a mile and a half of the house in their 4x4 vehicle.
They have now had to abandon the vehicle in the drifts and are making their way to the house on foot, through three foot drifts, carrying the supplies.
