The trial of three people, including a Castlemartin couple, charged in connection with human trafficking, controlling prostitutes and money laundering, has begun today (Monday).
Thomas Joseph Carrol, aged 48, and Shamiela Clark, aged 31, formerly of Gateway Lodge, Castlemartin, along with Carrol’s daughter, 25-year-old Toma Carroll, of Highfield Manor, Crosneen, County Carlow, Ireland, will be tried at Cardiff crown court.
All three have been held in custody since their arrests in December 2008 , Thomas Carrol at Swansea prison and his daughter and Clark in Eastwood Park women’s prison near Bristol.
Today the trial has begun with legal arguments which are expected to go on all week.
A jury is due to be sworn in next Monday.
