Pembrokeshire County Council is asking residents to check up on elderly and vulnerable neighbours, as the prevailing big freeze affects care services across the county.
The council’s learning disability and older persons day centres, including The Anchorage in Pembroke Dock; The Avenue in Tenby and Portfield Centre in Haverfordwest are closed today (Thursday).
A spokesman for Pembrokeshire County Council said that this was because transport cannot collect customers under current conditions.
The county’s Meals on Wheels service is using 4x4 vehicles to continue delivering meals to the homes of the elderly.
The council is also running a reduced home care service due to the weather.
Pembrokeshire people are asked to call in on elderly or vulnerable neighbours, make sure that they have adequate food and fuel supplies and are keeping mobile.
