Fire crews and police officers throughout Pembrokeshire have been out in force due to several car accidents caused by the freezing conditions.

Just before 5am this morning (Wednesday) Cyrmych crew dealt with a car which had left the road and collided with a hedge. The saloon vehicle was trapped in a precarious position. Fire fighters righted it and made the road and the car safe.

At 3.18pm yesterday (Tuesday) two crews from Milford Haven, as well as police and a 4x4 rescue vehicle were called to the Blackbridge area.

At least four cars had left the road due to snow and ice. Emergency services helped recover them and made the area safe.

Minutes before this, at 3.15pm two fire appliances from Haverfordwest were called to a collision in Broadway, Broad Haven.

Again the collision was due to hazardous winter road conditions. Three people were out of their vehicle when fire crews arrived at the incident. Fire fighters made the area safe.

At around 3pm several cars left the road on the sharp bend out of Letterston, in the Fishguard direction. Four cars were removed from the road by a recovery vehicle, while several other cars lost control and ended up in the grass verge on the side of the road.

There was a considerable delay to traffic travelling in the Fishguard direction. Police dealt with the incident. Stopping traffic travelling to Letterston and directing cars to the right hand carriageway in order to avoid the hazardous road surface.

Traffic police and local police said they were incredibly busy, dealing with weather related incidents throughout the day.
