Pembrokeshire has enough salt for three more days and is getting fresh supplies daily the county council has said.
More than 20 road gritters and snow ploughs have taken to local roads in the past 48 hours. The leader of Pembrokeshire County Council, Councillor John Davies, admitted authorities were dealing with an 'exceptional situation'.
Brian Maddocks, Head of Maintenance, insisted the council had adequate supplies to deal with the conditions. Speaking today he said: "We have three crews for each gritting lorry, working shifts so that we have 24 hours a day cover," he said.
"All the primary routes are currently ok, although we have some problems with the road north of Tufton towards Eglwyswrw and the Dale Road.
"We have an adequate stock of salt for the primary routes for the next three days and we are getting daily supplies of salt."
Mr Maddocks also reserved special praise for maintenance teams whose work he said 'delighted' him: "Ever since the week before Christmas, they've been working round the clock. "I'd like to say a big than you to them and their families."
