Dear Editor
I disagree with the sentiments expressed in Conrad Bryant’s latest letter to the Western Telegraph “Bring power to the people” in the edition of November 25th.
The Welsh Assembly is generally working well, but to justify expenditure on the Assembly, one does not need to attack expenditure on the British monarchy. By all means bring power to the people, but do not bring power to the fascists, the ones who simultaneously believe in nationalism and socialism.
Of course expenditure on the Welsh Assembly is justified. The Assembly has achieved much. It has fought for Wales and the Welsh in Wales and elsewhere well in the past ten years or so. However, to justify the non-abolishment of the Welsh Assembly, it is not necessary to attack expenditure on the British monarchy. At best to do so is mischievous; at worst is malicious.
