"The 2009 Pembrokeshire Agricultural Show promises to be one of the best shows yet as it celebrates its 50th year at the Withybush Showground site," says Stephen Crabb, MP for Preseli Pembrokeshire.
"While many agricultural and rural shows up and down the country have faced mixed fortunes in recent years, the Pembrokeshire County Show has gone from strength to strength and is now widely recognised as one of the UK's outstanding shows.
"It is not just its size which gives the County Show its special status, although few other shows can boast visitor numbers in excess of 100,000. What also makes our show such an attractive and distinctive event is the fact that it has remained true to its roots in the heart of the Pembrokeshire farming community.
"Despite all the challenges and pressures that our farmers have had to face over the years, the County Show has remained a premier showcase for local farming excellence. The consistent quality of the Show is a true reflection of the talent, hard work and determination that characterises Pembrokeshire's farming families.
"I congratulate the members of the Pembrokeshire Agricultural Society for all the wonderful shows they have organised at Withybush throughout the last 50 years and wish them every success for many, many more to come."
