Pembrokeshire County Council have confirmed today (Thursday)that they are conducting an investigation into how a 96-year-old woman went missing from Cilwendeg Care Home in Boncath on Tuesday night.
The elderly woman was reported missing from the council-run home at 5pm on Tuesday. A police helicopter, officers on the ground and two fire crews from Crymych were involved in a seven-hour search for her.
The woman was eventually found at around 12.20am about half a mile away from the home.
She was taken to Withybush Hospital suffering from minor cuts and bruises and the effects of the cold. She was kept in for three hours before returning to the home yesterday (Wednesday).
"Cilwendeg is registered for 18 elderly residents," said a council spokesman.
"It is run by Pembrokeshire County Council, which has now instigated a full review into the circumstances of what happened on Tuesday evening to ensure that it does not occur again."
