Dear Editor
The removal of the Chieftain tank from Western Way by Pembroke Dock Town Council due to the lack of funds available for maintenance, is a diabolical decision (Western Telegraph, March 11th).
What about the £150,000 the council receives from the public? Surely money could be found from this council tax.
In the past other historical artefacts — the Warrior and the Sunderland — were also allowed to leave the county, but they should all have been placed in Pembroke Dock Dockyard, where millions of pounds of heritage money has been spent.
About £500,000 was spent on the Martello Tower in Front Street, Pembroke Dock, so why can’t money be found to keep this artefact in the town?
