A hand embroidered banner, designed and made in Pembrokeshire to represent the county in this year's annual St Davids Day parade, was unveiled at the Senedd today (Thursday).
The Pembrokeshire banner is the brainchild of one of the parade's organisers, singer-songwriter Gwenno Dafydd who hails from the county.
It incorporates words and images from the song she has written especially for the parade Ring out the Bells for St David, Cenwch y Clychau i Dewi.
The banner was designed by renowned textile artists, Audrey Walker and Eirian Short, who were also embroidery arrangers for Fishguard's famous last invasion tapestry which attracts thousands of visitors to the town each year.
Some of the county's finest embroiderers, under the guidance of project manager Heulwen Reynolds, have created the banner and have set the standard for other counties to follow suit next year.
The banner was officially launched at Oriel y Senedd today, with the support of regional AM Nerys Evans.
Designers Audrey Walker and Erian Short were also on hand to talk about the design and construction of the banner.
The project has been backed by Fishguard Arts Society from its inception.
"This will be an exquisite work of art in the tradition of the last invasion tapestry," said society chairman Gaynor McMorrin.
"There is so much expertise, commitment and determination for this work and this will make it a showcase piece for the rest of Wales."
