Over 500 calls were received by Mid and West Wales’s Fire Control over the weekend due to the stormy weather. Incidents reported varied from road traffic collisions, to flooding incidents and unsafe structures.
Among the areas worst hit were Tenby and St Clears which weer badly flooded on Saturday, all incidents were dealt with by crews from Pembrokeshire.
The county council said that the weekend had been quiet compared to other parts of the country. Staff were called out to deal with scattered incidents of fallen trees felled by the stormy weather.
There was also some flooding at Broad Haven (west) and on roads in Tenby and Pembroke Dock.
This morning (Monday) council staff distributed sandbags to properties in Trafalgar Road, Tenby.
Environment Agency flood warnings are currently in place for south Pembrokeshire and the Western Cleddau.
“Demand for our services was particularly high over the weekend," said Roger Bennett, head of the fire service's civil contingencies and resilience department.
"But thanks to effective planning our fire crews were able to deal with incidents effectively.
" We would encourage people to listen to their local news for updates on weather warnings. Avoid unnecessary journeys and reduce speed if you really have to drive in conditions of this kind”.
