A host of Pembrokeshire food producers will be waiting with bated breath tonight (Thursday), as they attend the annual True Taste Wales food and drink awards.

Over 500 food and drink products and services are judged each year for the awards. This year's event has had record-breaking interest, with 69 companies eventually shortlisted for the 25 awards up for grabs.

In the West Wales area Pembrokeshire has more nominations than any other county, with ten of the 20 nominees in the entire area coming from the county.

Those nominated include Bethesda Farm and Coffee Shop; Yerberston Gate Farm Shop; Pant Mawr Farmhouse Cheeses; first Milk cheese company; Culture Drinks Limited; dash Shellfish; Miranda's Preserves and West Valley Honey.

Pembrokeshire County Council has also been nominated for promoting Pembrokeshire as a true taste tourism destination, a category that recognises an individual, partnership or unitary authority that has contributed to promoting food tourism in Wales.

"It's brilliant to see such a wide variety of high quality products and innovative companies from across Wales reaching this stage of the competition," said Norma Barry, head of the Welsh Assembly's market development division.

"It really does prove that Wales is home to a thriving and prosperous food and drink industry."

All nominees will gather tonight for what is bound to be a scrumptious presentation evening at the Vale Hotel Golf and Spa Resort near Cardiff.

Attendees will enjoy a mouth watering four course dinner, featuring products from previous True Taste winners, before finding out if they have been successful in this year's awards.
