A local educational charity has found a new home after having to leave its Goodwick base.

Theatr Fforwm Cymru was given notice to vacate Goodwick Community Centre by the county council. After battling for over two years to keep the building for the people of Goodwick the charity started looking for new premises.

They failed to find a suitable office in Haverfordwest but luckily have ended up a lot closer to home.

They are now happily housed in a bright and airy office in Fishguard's St Mary's Hall.

Their new location was suggested to them by secretary of the hall committee the Reverend Cannon Jeremy Martineau.

Rev Martineau had previously attended workshops run by Theatr Fforwm and when he heard that they were in danger of losing their headquarters in the area he contacted them to suggest St Mary's Hall.

"I saw them as the perfect tenants," said Rev Martineau, "this is exactly the type of building they can use.

"They area great organisation. I look forward to the hall developing with them and seeing them develop in their new building."

Gill Dowsett founder and director of Theatr Fforwm is equally enthusiastic about the new location.

"We looked at other places, but it was an ethically good move to move here and support this area and this hall.

"There isn't a community centre in Fishguard or Goodwick any more. The more organisations that use this building, the more chance there is of it attracting funding to fulfill that role.

"Being here means that we can still work with local young people. There is a great hall which we use for Base 64 [Theatr Fforwm's youth group] and we will also use it for workshops, performances and meetings.

"Our local volunteers love it here. It is very handy."

Members of the public are invited to St Mary's Hall on Monday, November 3rd at 8pm to BANG, a forum theatre event presented by Base 64 exploring what matters to young people in Fishguard and Goodwick today.
