Nearly 200 drivers and passengers in the Dyfed-Powys force area were fined for not wearing seat belts during a recent all- Wales crackdown which ran from September 8th.
Of those fined, 38 were under 25 years of age.
Nearly twice as many people were caught across Wales than last year. The 2007 campaign saw 1437 adult passengers and drivers caught not wearing a seat belt. This year more than 2, 800 people across Wales were caught not belting up, 199 of those were in the Dyfed-Powys force area.
All were issued with £30 fixed penalty notices.
Dyfed-Powys Police Road Safety Officer Susan Storch, said; "Unfortunately there are still people travelling on our roads that insist on not wearing a seat belt with the majority of those caught being drivers and adult passengers."
"It only takes a few seconds to put on your belt - don't make it a lifetime of regret if you don't.
"The consequences if you are involved in a collision are simply not worth the risk."
