Magistrates in Haverfordwest have issued a court summons to a Milford Haven lorry driver, after it was decided today (Tuesday) that he could not plead guilty by letter.
Sidney Brian Cole, of 39 Cutty Sark Drive, Milford Haven, had written to the court to plead guilty to three driving offences, one of fraudulently altering an entry on a tachograph; one of driving over the daily limit and one of failing to take a rest period.
He asked the court to sentence him in his absence and wrote that this was his "firs tacho offence in 17 years of driving a heavy goods vehicle on a public highway".
Because of the seriousness of the offence there is a possibility that it would need to go to crown court for sentencing.
Because of this magistrates required Cole's presence in the court room and issued a summons for him to attend court at 10am on November 12th.
