A north Pembrokeshire community has been shocked at the theft of a collection box from a popular church.
St Nicholas Church, in St Nicholas, is on the Saints and Stones route and is visited by countless tourists over the summer months.
Between Sunday, October 12th and last Tuesday, October 14th, a collection box was stolen from the church.
The tin box was screwed onto the back of a pew and thieves had made of with both the box and its contents.
"We are very saddened by it," said church warden Rhian Lloyd. "We have lots of tourists coming in who give their pennies and they are gratefully accepted in this day and age.
"We are very proud that the church is not locked and that people can come and go as they like. We are very lucky and people do come, especially in the summer."
Mrs Lloyd said that the church had been targeted once before but that this was a few years ago.
"We hope its a one off," she said. "We hope that it won't happen again."
Anyone who has any information on the theft is asked to call PC183Boorman at Fishguard police station on 0845 330 2000.
