Dear Editor — I read with interest Becky Hotchin’s article last week concerning the state of Picton playing fields following the recent October fair.
“Who in their right mind would allow heavy vehicles onto a sports field at this time of year?” asked a local resident, Dave Rees.
Who indeed? Relevant Pembrokeshire County Council departments and elected county councillors perhaps?
Is it possible that, in their eagerness to permanently remove the traditional spring and October fairs from St Thomas Green – and their determination to build a new leisure centre upon the same site – that they overlooked the typically unreliable weather of May and October?
