DEAR EDITOR — This is an open letter to all who live in or centre their activities on Fishguard and Goodwick.

I wish to present an opportunity to all individuals, special interest groups and service providers to profile themselves during a community week at the end of November.

Work is already in hand to involve all schools in environmental awareness in a way that fits into the new curriculum thus meaning continuity in community projects rather than one-off efforts.

Outcomes will include new partnerships between the town council, county council and a wide range of agencies who are all keen to better enable us to enjoy and celebrate living here.

I make this an open letter because it will be near impossible to contact every group. So to all chairmen and secretaries who are available on either, or both, November 28th and 29th and have an interest in profiling yourself, do please contact me to discuss your presentation requirements. We plan to use venues in Fishguard, Goodwick and Lower Town and to organise free transport between all venues.

There will be opportunities for establishing a community environment group that will cover areas from litter picking to caring for and protecting our natural environment; start-up resources will be provided by Keep Wales Tidy under their Tidy Towns Initiative.

The twin towns are a fantastic place to live and this weekend presents the opportunity to begin putting a smile back on their faces.
