A series of road shows aimed at keeping Pembrokeshire's pensioners warm and well this winter kicks off today (Monday).
At the multi-agency Keep Well This Winter road shows older people and there carers can receive essential information on the following: Help with home insulation; heating and fuel costs; how to have a healthy, balanced diet on a budget and cook easy meals from essentials.
The roadshows will also cover home safety including fire safety; securing your home and carbon monoxide awareness.
Other topics coverd by the free event are falls awareness; flu vaccinations; benefit payments and digital television.
The road shows are part of a national campaign supported by the Welsh Assembly Government and are part of Health Challenge Wales.
They are held between 10am and 4pm and start today (Monday) at the Queens Hall Narberth. On Thursday, October 16th Pembroke Town Hall will host the event.
On Wednesday October 22nd the roadshow will be held at Fishguard Town Hall, the final destination is Haverfordwest's Picton Centre on Saturday 25th October.
The Electrical Safety Council is also offering a free, new electric blanket to anyone whose old blanket fails a safety check and those attending will also have the chance to win a hamper of winter store cupboard essentials, worth £50 and free fleece blankets.
Free transport is also available for those who may have difficulty getting to an event. This will be provided in fully accessible community minibuses, which can also accommodate wheelchairs and walking aids, if booked in advance.
The minibuses can pick up anywhere in Pembrokeshire, and will collect from individual houses if required. Those with bus passes are asked to bring them with them when they travel. Please call FREEPHONE 0800 783 1584 to book a seat.
