A HORSE was hit by a van and killed after escaping from a field on a busy Powys road.
The incident occurred on the A44 between New Radnor and Walton in the early hours of Thursday, October 10.
“Dyfed-Powys Police received a report of a road traffic collision, following a horse escaping a nearby field and colliding with a van on the A44 between New Radnor and Walton, at approximately 5.15am on October 10,” the force said in a statement.
“The road was closed while recovery attended, and re-opened just before 8am.
“Sadly, the horse passed away and its owner was located, who attended the location with officers.”
A police spokesperson said that as far as they were aware the van driver suffered no injuries.
