THESE drivers have had their cases heard in court recently.

The three motorists were accused of speeding and drug-driving.

Their cases were heard at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court.

Here’s a round-up of the cases.

ARUN WHITTINGTON, 20, of Alma Street in Abertillery, was clocked doing 90mph on the A40.

Whittington caught by a manned speed camera driving a Hyundai at 90mph on the A40 at Toch Hill – a 60mph limit – on July 2.

He pleaded guilty and had five points added to his licence at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on October 9.

Whittington was fined £184 and must pay a £74 surcharge.                                                

ASHLEIGH SUTTON, 26, of Court Meadow in Letterston, admitted driving whilst high on cannabis.

Sutton was driving a Nissan Note on St Davids Road in Letterston on March 15. When tested, the defendant recorded having 4.2 micrograms of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol per litre (µg/L) of blood.

The legal limit – to exclude accidental exposure – is 2µg/L.

Sutton pleaded guilty on September 24, and was banned from driving at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on October 10.

The defendant was ordered to pay a £340 fine, £85 in costs and a £136 surcharge. Sutton was also banned from driving for 12 months.  

ROBERT JONES, of Clunderwen, has been banned after being clocked doing 77mph in a 50mph limit.

Jones was driving a BMW 420 on the A40, near the junction for Llanllwch, on January 26 – where a 50mph local traffic order was in place – when he was caught speeding by a manned speed camera.

He pleaded guilty, and was fined £507 at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on October 2.

Jones was also ordered to pay £110 in costs and a £203 surcharge, and was disqualified from driving for 56 days.
