A man who put his fist through a glass door panel during an argument was sweeping it up when police arrived on the scene.

Stephen McHugh of London Road, Pembroke Dock, told officers "it’s me you need to speak to" when they arrived at the Milford Haven property owned by Pembrokeshire County Council on August 28 this year.

The 48-year-old went on to admit that his partner would not let him into the premises and he had punched through a panel in the front door. He told police that he was an a*** hole.

Tom Lloyd defending said that McHugh had entered an early guilty plea and had made a full admission straight away. He had been extremely remorseful from the outset.

He added that his client accepted that he had issues with alcohol that needed addressing and wanted to address them.

Magistrates sitting in Haverfordwest on Tuesday, October 8, ordered McHugh to pay an £80 fine, £50 compensation for the window, £85 in costs and a £114 victim surcharge.

They also ordered him to undertake 15 days of rehabilitation requirement activity and imposed a six month alcohol treatment requirement.
