A man has appeared in court to deny causing the death of a young father by careless driving at the Nash Fingerpost Junction.

Motorcyclist Ashley Rodgers lost his life in a collision on Saturday, May 13, last year.

The 29-year-old died at the scene on the A477 near the A4075 Fingerpost Junction, between Milton and Cleddau.

His family said they were devastated at the tragic loss.

“He was loved and will be dearly missed by his fiancé, son, family and friends,” they said.

Today 42-year-old Jason Harvey, of Law Street Pembroke Dock, appeared at Haverfordwest charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

The court heard that it was alleged that he was driving his White Ford Transit carelessly or inconsiderately when it collided with Ashley’s motorbike.

After Ashley’s death a petition for better safety measures at the junction was set up and attracted more than 10,300 signatures in a matter of days.

As a result of this, the matter was raised in the Welsh Assembly and traffic lights were installed at the junction.

Harvey, who appeared in the dock smartly dressed and clean shaven, entered a not guilty plea.

Magistrates declined jurisdiction and committed the case to Swansea Crown Court where it is listed for a plea and trial preparation hearing next month.
