A new ventilator worth almost £30,000 has been bought for a Pembrokeshire hospital.
Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of Hywel Dda Health Board, funded the £28,700 equipment for Withybush Hospital through donations.
The ventilator, which assists the lungs in breathing, is compatible with MRI scans, allowing intubated patients in the Intensive Care Unit to undergo these essential scans without being transferred to another location.
The results of MRI scans are used to diagnose conditions, plan treatments, and assess the effectiveness of previous treatments.
Charlotte Adams, senior sister, said: "We are extremely grateful that charitable donations have enabled us to purchase the new ventilator for Withybush.
"The equipment allows patients access to an MRI scan locally, ensuring that diagnostic imaging can be achieved safely and efficiently.
"The ventilator provides the latest technology, making transfer ventilation as safe as possible for our patients.
"The ability to provide this level of care on site reduces the impact on other services and specialities, and the equipment can be used across the hospital for anyone requiring an MRI, delivering benefits to even more patients and staff."
Nicola Llewelyn, head of Hywel Dda Health Charities, said: "The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive."
