A Pembrokeshire chef has admitted causing the death of much-loved taxi driver Christopher Boyle by dangerous driving.

Mateusz Sikorski, 30, formerly of Manorbier and now living in the Narberth area, appeared at Swansea Crown Court today, Monday October 7.

He pleaded guilty to the charge of causing the death of 57-year-old Mr Boyle by dangerous driving on September 2, 2024 at Penally, while driving a BMW Series 1 car on the A4139.

Sikorski had previously appeared at Llanelli Magistrates Court on September 5 following his arrest on the charge, when he was remanded in custody.

Curfew

However, an application for bail was granted on September 12 with the conditions that he resides in the Narberth area, obeys an 8pm-8am curfew and reports weekly to a police station.

He was also given an interim driving ban.

At today’s hearing, Judge Catherine Richards renewed Sikorski’s bail conditions and adjourned the case for sentence until Friday November 8.

The fatal crash between Sikorski's car and Mr Boyle's silver Volkwagen taxi took place on the Penally by-pass near Tenby.

Father-of-five Mr Boyle - popularly known as Mucker - died at the scene. 

An inquest into his death was opened at Haverfordwest County Hall, but has been adjourned due to the ongoing criminal proceedings. A post mortem confirmed that the cause of his death was multiple traumatic injuries. 

|His funeral took placer at St Mary's Church, Tenby on September 27, with the cortege making its way through his home village of Kilgetty for those wishing to pay their respects.

His  family chose The Firefighters Charity to receive donations in his memory. 

In a tribute, they said: "He was very involved in the community and would do anything to help anyone.”

Fellow taxi driver Gabriel Nowak said: “I cannot think of anyone in Tenby, or even Pembrokeshire, who will not have known Mucker and will have undoubtedly heard the words ‘Mucker Boy’ at some point in their life.

“I am sure most of you, like myself, will forever miss his banter, his friendship and his cheap rides home.”

A GoFundMe set up by Mr Nowak to go towards funeral costs and to support Mr Boyle’s children has so far raised more than £16,600, with over 440 people donating.

Customers and fellow drivers described Mr Boyle as "one in a million", "such a gent" and "the nicest guy ever".
