Scores of Pembrokeshire pubs have been listed in The Campaign for Real Ale’s (CAMRA) Good Beer Guide for 2025.
The guide is the UK’s best-selling beer and food guide which surveys 4500 of the best pubs.
Over 900 pubs across the UK are featured in the guide, including 71 from West Wales, 31 from Mid Wales, 322 from the whole of Wales and 69 new pub entries.
CAMRA Chairman Ash Corbett-Collins said: “CAMRA’s mission is to ensure support from both the UK and Welsh Government as well as tangible legislation to protect pubs in this country.
“By next year’s edition of the Guide, we want to be talking about the beer and pub trade growing with the support of communities, Senedd and UK Parliament alike.”
Here are just ten of the pubs mentioned from Pembrokeshire, with several more on the list:
- Cresselly Arms, Cresswell Quay
- Brewery Inn, Cosheston
- Royal Oak Inn, Fishguard
- William Owen, Haverfordwest
- First & Last, Pembroke Dock
- Royal Oak, Newport
- Farmers Arms, St Davids
- Royal Oak Inn, Saundersfoot
- Harbwr Tap & Kitchen, Tenby
- Ship, Solva
The information is gathered by thousands of CARMA volunteers who give up their time ever year to select the best pubs.
The guide’s foreword is written by Iain Macleod, ITV’s Executive Producer for Continuing Drama.
In his foreword, MacLeod says: “The story which threatened one of our pubs the most was also the one which most resonated with our times. In 2023, the Rovers Return closed its doors.
“A combination of the lingering legacy of the Covid lockdowns and the cost-of-living crisis meant that landlady Jenny Bradley couldn’t afford to keep it open.
“The characters – and the viewers – lamented the news like the loss of a loved one. If it were needed, it was a timely reminder of the central place the nation’s pubs have in our lives and in our affections.”
For 2025, the guide is sponsored by Midland Snacks Traditional Pork Scratchings and endorsed by Cask Marque.
