An air ambulance landed at the scene of a serious crash on the A40 in Pembrokeshire on Tuesday (October 1).

One person was rushed to hospital with serious injuries following the collision, which occurred between Whitland and Penblewin at around 7.30am and involved two vehicles.

Police have confirmed that one person was taken to hospital with injuries described as "serious".

In a new update, Wales Air Ambulance has also confirmed that it sent a helicopter to the incident.

A spokesperson for the air ambulance service said: “Our Dafen-based team were allocated at 7.30am and attended by air. We arrived at the scene at 7.56am. Our involvement concluded at 9.14am”

A spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police said: "Dyfed-Powys Police received a report of a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the A40 between Whitland and Penblewin at around 7.30am on October 1.

"The road was partially passable from 7.40am.

"One person was taken to hospital with serious injuries not believed to be life threatening or changing.

"The council took over traffic management at 9.10am."
