An unlucky pup that plunged over cliffs on the Pembrokeshire coast has been recued by a local lifeboat crew.
At 12.17pm last Thursday, September 26, Angle’s All-Weather Lifeboat was launched following a 999 call reporting a dog over the cliff at West Angle Beach, opposite Thorn Island.
The lifeboat made the short journey to West Angle, where the crew soon located Ziggy the dog at the base of the cliff.
The lifeboat’s inflatable Y-boat was deployed and a crew member soon put ashore to recover the dog who was distressed but safe and well.
The Y-boat crew transferred the dog onto the All-Weather Lifeboat which proceeded round to East Angle Bay to drop the dog ashore.
At East Angle Ziggy was put safely ashore and reunited with its relieved owners who were given safety advice by the coastguard rescue officers from St Govan’s and Tenby.
With no further assistance required, the lifeboat was stood down and was back alongside her berth and readied for further service by 2:30pm.
