A Pembrokeshire tourist spot has seen 40 runners take off for a 250km run along the Wales Coast Path to raise money for an inspirational mental health charity.
The runners are tackling 250km over five days on the stunning Welsh Coastal Path. They have so far raised an incredible £50,606 for bigmoose charity.
The Cardiff based mental health charity provides therapy and suicide first aid training.
Since 2022 1,000 people have completed their therapy with bigmoose. 65 of these told told the charity that they were on the path to suicide before bigmoose’s intervention.
This month alone bigmoose has had 118 referrals.
The mental health charity is currently on a mission to raise £15 million to support people through therapy.
Yesterday the runners arrived in St Davids with lots of excitement and nerves to set off setting off on the first steps of the epic run, cheered on by supporters with cowbells in hand.
They will run 50km every day to help the charity raise essential funds.
“50km every day is no easy feat, let alone doing it for five days straight,” said a spokesperson for the charity.
“Each and every one of these individuals is absolutely incredible, they are taking on the challenge to help people struggling with their mental health and we are so grateful for them.
“We want to say the biggest thank you to each and every runner from the @itswhywerun class of 2024 - you are saving lives.”
