A Pembrokeshire restaurant has been named among the best in the UK for a romantic evening by a top travel website.

The Really Wild Emporium in St Davids has been listed as the ninth best restaurant in the UK for a date night by travel giants TripAdvisor.

The St Davids restaurant which specialises in locally sourced ingredients is one of the winners in Tripadvisor’s Travellers' Choice Awards Best of the Best Restaurants.

This is the fifth and final Travellers' Choice Best of the Best Awards of the year, highlighting the world's top restaurants, according to Tripadvisor reviews.

The Really Wild Emporium is one of just over 50 UK restaurants to make the best of the best list and one of just three in Wales.

The Really Wild Emporium was created during lockdown in a characterful, three storey, Art Deco building in the centre of St Davids.

From the outset the Emporium, especially the unique Really Wild Restaurant, has punched above its weight, winning awards for Pollution Free Business, Sustainable Tourism and Regenerative Tourism as well as the Best Use of Pembrokeshire National Park.

Last year it was the only Pembrokeshire restaurant to be listed in the OpenTable top 100 restaurants for 2023.

This year the restaurant has been shortlisted for three categories in Visit Pembrokeshire’s Croeso Awards; the restaurant is in the running for The Best Tourism Service/Product Supplier; the Environment & Sustainability Award and The Best Place to Eat Award.

The restaurant is well-known for it’s lovely lunches and six-course evening tasing menu which features locally sourced and foraged ingredients.

It is favoured by diners for its bare wooden floors, original stained glass windows and quirky lighting as well as its use of wild ingredients and knowledgeable and friendly staff.

"The award was a complete surprise. It was very exciting to be told that we were 9th in the UK for couples’ dining," said the Really Wild Emporium’s Julia Mansfield.

"We have such a great team, both in the kitchen and front of house who are as passionate as we are about delivering the best experience that they can to anyone who dines with us.

"They are committed to being at the heart of the environmental and foraging activities throughout the business and are always ready to share their knowledge with everyone.

"I believe that our dining guests become aware of this passion, the consistent, special service and courtesy whilst they are with us."
