A Haverfordwest venue has reopened its event space after improvement work with an exciting autumn programme kicking off with a visit from Tankus the Henge on October 4.

Haverhub, a town centre venue and community hub, welcomed people back into its popular Depot after months of ongoing improvements to its sound, lighting and stage.

And is looking forward to hosting its own Oktoberfest in the town for the first time.

The Depot at Haverhub first opened for events in 2018 and the latest revamp was carried out after a community survey recommended improving the acoustics for live music, among other things.

Haverhub applied for funding from the UK government’s Shared Prosperity Fund, administered by Pembrokeshire County Council and allocated to local community projects and groups.

The funding helped provide a floor-to-ceiling acoustic wall which has improved the sound quality and created secure storage behind the wall.

Technical equipment including lighting, a new PA and speakers, comfortable seating and a large stage which can be customised for different requirements have been bought.

Haverhub founder Gitti Coats said: “We’d like to thank the SPF grant team at Pembrokeshire County Council for their help in this sizeable and complex grant, allowing us to complete a massive upgrade to our Depot.

"We are extremely grateful to receive funding, and for the community’s continued input, despite our long journey from derelict to delightful!

“To celebrate these improvements, we’ve arranged an exciting programme of events starting in October to relaunch our Depot as a significant and professional music venue. We can now attract a wider range of touring gigs as well as give local performers a better experience every Wednesday at our weekly Open Mic night.

“The much-anticipated return of high-energy touring band Tankus the Henge kicks off our relaunch month on October 4, contrasted a week later by talented jazz and acoustic instrumentalist Sean Taylor.

"Then comes a big day for us – our very first Oktoberfest at Haverhub – which promises to be a lot of fun!” said Gitti.

Later in the month, Haverhub will collaborate once again with the annual town lantern parade, inviting the community to make their own handmade lanterns in creative sessions and providing an all-important wet weather fallback on the night, should the clouds roll in.
