The taxi driver community in the Tenby area is staging a big fundraiser this week in memory of their much-loved member Chris ‘Mucker’ Boyle, who died earlier this month.
Mr Boyle, who was 57, was killed in a two-car crash on the A4139 near Tenby on the evening of September 2. A man has since been charged with causing his death by dangerous driving.
The fundraiser is taking place on Wednesday, September 18, at the Sands Club, Saundersfoot between 8am and 1pm, and entry is £10.
A raffle with prizes donated by local businesses will be drawn on the night. Tickets are on sale in more than 20 pubs and businesses until the end of Tuesday.
The drivers - who will be donating all their fares that night back to the fundraiser - announced “The blue light taxis are hosting a fundraising night on Wednesday 18th of September to celebrate the life of their fellow comrade Chris AKA Mucker who was tragically taken from us.
“All proceeds raised from the door entry and raffle will be used to support his young son Tommy J.”
More than £15,500 has so far been realised via a fundraiser to help with the costs of Mr Boyle’s funeral and the future of his five children.
Funeral arrangements Mr Boyle’s funeral will take place on Friday, September 27 at St Mary’s Church, Tenby at 10am, followed by committal at Parc Gwyn Crematorium at 12.15pm.
Funeral directors W. and M.J. Rossiter and Sons of Tenby said in their funeral notice: “Chris was a much-loved son to Brian, dad to Daniel, Chloe, Leah, Jimmy and Tommy J, brother to Liz, David and Lisa, uncle and friend.”
They added: “The funeral cortege will be passing through Kilgetty at approx 11.45am, for anyone wishing to pay their respects to Chris.”
The family has chosen The Firefighters Charity to receive donations in memory, which can be made via the funeral directors.
