If you’ve ever wondered what’s behind the walls of some intriguing Tenby buildings, then an upcoming Heritage Day could provide the answer.
To coincide with the last day of the Tenby Community Festival, the event will offer tours featuring the town’s rich heritage, many offering entry to places beyond the public’s gaze.
The Heritage Day, taking place on Sunday, September 29 is a new initiative being organised by Tenby Civic Society.
It falls within CADW’s Open Doors scheme and at each venue, contributions will be collected for Tenby RNLI.
The RNLI ‘s five lifeboat houses in Tenby – new and old – can be seen during the day, with Tenby Freemasons’ Lodge, Tenby Weather Tower on Castle Hill, the Mayor’s Parlour and town walls and St Mary’s Church behind the scenes and the bell tower all on the programme.
The timetable is:
- 11am-1pm, Lifeboat houses tour, Freemasons’ Lodge.
- 11.30am-12.30pm, Tenby Weather Tower
- Noon-2pm, Mayor’s Parlour, town walls
- 2pm-4pm, St Mary’s Church behind the scenes, St Mary’s bell tower
All places on the tours are bookable in advance only by phoning 01834 842730
